Day Twenty-Six- Tiny Terrarium

I've become a bit terrarium-obsessed. I recently won a set of bud vases in a bingo game, they're really sweet, and I'm a sucker for tiny things. Today I collected and sifted some moss and placed a tiny rabbit from my bag of miscellany in his new and proper home.

How adorable is that!?

Be blessed!

Day Twenty- Moo Mini Card Case

My husband and I got a much-needed date day today. We dropped our son off at my parents house and saw a movie, ate some lunch and shopped sans child. It was glorious.

Tonight when I got home I just wanted to do something simple, and useful. I've been needing a case for my mini Moo cards to protect them from the perils of my purse.

A wool felt case with a sweet cutout heart on it was just what the doctor ordered!

Now my cards will not only stay debris and crease free but also quite handy.

Be blessed!

Day Eighteen- Love Banner

I finished another banner in my "encouraging art" series. (I still don't have a great name for it, but they make me feel warm and fuzzy.)

This one was inspired by 1 John 4:8.

Applique wool felt on vintage cotton pillowcase with vintage reclaimed trim and satin ribbon.

Day Seventeen- Resin Pendant Necklace

A few days ago I reposted this as my status on facebook after commenting on a friend's status that said the same thing:

I want to make you - yes, you - a gift! 'Why?' you ask? well I'll make a gift for the next person to comment on this post or send me a message. Buuut, you then have to agree to do the same for 5 other people - fear not! It can be as easy as chocolate chip cookies or a mix CD. Or a poem, a paint...ing, a scarf. It could ...be as complex as your imagination and skill allow.

It was a perfect motivator to do during Thing-a-Day! Five of my friends commented, so I have started on their gifts! The first is for my friend, Anna. A pendant necklace.

Resin and ceramic beads on gold toned wire with gold toned chain tassel hanging from a cotton cord.

Hopefully she'll love it. I just have to find my printer cord to print up some postage and get it sent her way!

Be blessed!

Day Sixteen- Green Freshwater Pearl Necklace

I broke out my bead supplies today for this one. Freshwater pearl and glass beads on wire.

100_3966

It reminds me a lot of the necklace I wore to my junior prom ten years ago, but in a murky green instead of white pearl. Those "floating" necklaces were so popular back then.

Be blessed.

Day Thirteen- Used Bookstore

Ames Bookstore is somewhat of a town treasure. It is a vintage strip mall in downtown Grass Valley, CA which consists entirely of Ames Used and New Books. (But mostly used.) My husband and I recently rediscovered this treasure so we took a trip today to pick up some books and I took some snapshots of the awesome place.

100_3939

All of the doors in the strip lead into a room that is packed floor to ceiling with books.

100_3928

The whole place just oozes awesome. Look at those amazing teal linoleum floors and handwritten signs.

100_3929

A peek down an aisle. There is another case of books behind that slanty case which makes the place seem a bit of a maze.

100_3930

I love the colors and typefaces on old books.

100_3935

The treasure I discovered this trip?

100_3937

A 1935 sewing instruction booklet. I didn't purchase it since I don't have a place for it but what a privilege to be able to look through! All of the dresses pictured within were VERY 30's.
.
Don't you just want to get lost in there? Good thing our son was with us or we would have stayed until closing!
Be blessed!
