Following on from the i-cord flower post of yesterday, I made a forget-me-not brooch today.
I knitted two stems from i-cord, one slightly longer than the other, then attached these to the back of the flowers. I knotted the stems and arranged the flowers. I can either attach the blooms directly to a garment or back the flowers with felt and sew on a pin.

Today I'm making flowers from i-cord (you could use French knitting). I knitted a length of i-cord 25cm (10") long. From this I formed a five looped petal flower then attached a button for the centre. I then knitted a length of i-cord, long enough to cover a hair band. When I had slipped the tube of i-cord over the hair band I attached the knitted flowers to it.

Trying to stay happy and chipper on a cold, windy, grey wintery day by creating "happy" art. This is watercolour, collage and outlined roughly with a no ink blot pencil which turns blue when wet.

When I saw this big crazy pink spiny tropical looking flower-ish thing, I knew I had to have it. So I found it a couple foliage friends and made it a thing.
Here it is approved of (sort of) by my cat, Polly.Comments [5]
A while back I got into sewing hexagons using the English paper piecing method. Then I started turning those hexes into flowers for a Grandmother's Garden quilt. These two hex flowers today bring my total to 36, though I think I'll need at least 48 to do a small quilt top.
More about how I'm making them here: http://wendymoondesigns.blogspot.com/2009/05/ive-got-basket-full-o-hexagons.html and here: http://wendymoondesigns.blogspot.com/2009/05/whats-keeping-me-busy.html
I bought some ribbon before Christmas, from the local market, wired edged ombre ribbon. Because the colours are graduated I thought they would make interesting flowers. The wired edge allowed me to shape and form the ribbon, to give the appearance of petals. I think these roses have lots of possibilities, they could be used to decorate a hat, hair band, corsage, an evening bag and lots more
I have put a tutorial, for making the roses on http://pompomemporium.com
thanks everyone for the kind feedback on my rainy day photos
yesterday. today i took sunny day photos in the same location---la
jolla, california (near san diego) where i'm currently vacationing. i
had taken more landscape photos, but realized too late that they were
overexposed, so i mainly only have macro shots today.
