Thing-a-day is a yearly creative sprint where, every year in February, participants commit to creating one new thing a day and post it on a collective blog. 2010 was thing-a-day's fourth edition and the first to run on Posterous. We're gearing up for 2011 so come back mid-January for more updates!

Today I received some new ring blanks I purchased recently. I was very excited to make some paper wrapped spiral rings, like the pendants I've made and had success with before. They will take about 24 hours to harden and then if everything goes well, I'll be adding them to my Etsy shop.
Once they were all assembled, I was so thrilled with the circle ones that I almost gasped at how beautifully they came out.
Today's TAD (inspired by today's photo ;) ! ) : silver plated safety pin brooch & earrings with dangling silver chaines, green glass faceted beads, and organza ribbon
Well, I’ve been “busy like a bee” all day, but as I’m trying not to become too stressed, I found time (among other things) to paint (with acrylics and permanent markers) some paper hearts I made a few days ago for Valentine’s Day and to make an easy chocker style necklace (on memory wire) featuring crocheted pansies.

Inspired by some photos from the Carnival of Venice,
“today’s thing” is a playful multicoloured pair of chandelier earrings,
made from yellow jade, pink Malaysian jade, Australian jade,
crazy lace agate, amethyst, moss agate, rainbow fluorite and jasper, “mixed” with silver-plated metallic beads.
The Venice Carnival is a wonderful yearly-event,
one of the most famous carnivals in the world.
The pictures I’ve mentioned before show
some inspirational “Harlequin costumes”.
“Harlequin” or “Arlecchino” is known as the king of the stage
of the comedy dell’arte.
“The Harlequin costume consists of a jacket and trousers made of
irregularly-shaped colored material, a white felt cap occasionally with rabbit or fox fur.
He always wears a belt with a wooden spatula hanging from it.
He wears a black half-mask with demonic features
(legend has it that the name Harlequin derives from a demon called Alichino
cited by Dante Alighieri in Inferno part of the "Divine Comedy".
He sometimes has a bristly moustache and eyebrows and a large nose.
A typical part of the Harlequin costume is the red lump on the head.”

I feel like I need summer! Right here, right now!

The result : It seems that, unfortunately, the only thing I can do at this point

In fact, I could say that making these “summer themed” earrings
for “TAD – Day 6” really helped!
I have no doubt! And this is the best part!

This is one in a series of bracelets I make - so you will likely see others, particularly over the next few days, since they're quick and easy to make. Antibiotics are, though, making a difference already, so hopefully the Evil Illness will be gone soon! Blue and green glass beads are wrapped in silver-plated wire and the bracelet is finished with a handmade toggle clasp in the same wire. (Tutorial for the clasp can be found at http://popnicute.etsy.com, if you're interested; that's where I got it from, anyway!)
