Music for Gina's Kitten Smash

I told Gina I'd put together some loops for her game she's working on: http://theginbin.posterous.com/arts-and-farts-and-crafts-day-8-avoid-kitten Some silly stuff that I thought would suit the subject matter. I have music for the title screen, the main game, and ending/dying music.

WFMU's Spike Berna Jam 2

This is a longer jam. It uses some vocal samples from a Radio show I listen to obsessively, The Best Show on WFMU. http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/BS There is a strange man who calls in the show who calls himself "Spike" and I took some audio from him. This is my second attempt and the original samples are quite squiggly, so truthfully the context doesn't really matter that much. Nevertheless, WFMU is one of the greatest radio stations on the planet, it is freeform and completely listener sponsored. I urge you to check it out.

Day Twenty-Two - CD and Fabric Paper

Today for Thing-A-Day I finished a mix CD I've been working on, tweaking and refining for a long time. I burned the first copy and listened to it to make sure there were no skips and the music all flowed properly from song to song. I am still brainstorming for ideas on the album artwork. I sat down at my drawing table to begin working on the artwork when I remembered a post I saw earlier today.

I saw this tutorial post on iHanna's blog about making fabric paper and it seemed like fun.

The first one I made I really liked, but then I wanted to "tint" it and added some acrylic paints and I wasn't thrilled with the outcome. That is more than a light tint, wouldn't you say? I wanted it to be light yellow with "barely there" touches of green and orange, and instead it became red and green. Go figure.

I had fun though, so I decided to do another one. This one (all the more "white" images) I left alone. I chose more neutral colored paper bits and I think I might come back over it later with a very watered down wash of white.

What will I end up doing with these? Who knows, but I thought I might scan them in and do some digital work over it for the album artwork.

Additions to Energy of Chemicals

I took Gina's diddy from yesterday http://theginbin.posterous.com/arts-and-farts-and-crafts-day-18-chemical-ene and added some junk on top. Now that's a thing.

Tracy Hook Draft

I haven't been keeping up with thing-a-day. But I have finished something I have been working on for months. A draft of a tune on Logic using the preset set-up for "Hip-hop." I got the name from the synth "Trancey Hook." I am in the market for a better name, but I'm just happy I've finished something.

UPDATE: I might change the name to

Constitutional Rights Denied Regarding Extraterrestrials

listen to this song over this video:

I think it works.

Lydian Hobnox Jam

This was done using the online Flash music maker "Hobnox Audio Tool." It's a pretty cool toy that emulates a wide range of synth sounds. Find it here: http://www.hobnox.com/audiotool.1046.en.html

When I recorded my diddy, it wavered a lot because of buffering etc. And I kind of liked that effect. But it might sound real annoying to some people.

666hz

I was inspired by this video posted by Robert Popper http://www.robertpopper.com/2010/02/08/i-wish-the-news-was-always-this/ to channel my inner mystic chords to a primal past. Which, for all intents and purposes, means summoning Satan. I do this by another overtone exercise using Berna. The fundamental this time is 666hz. I subsequently added partials, and it sounded pretty Satanic! I added a perfect fifth (999hz) to add some gentility. This is where bands like Slayer, Metallica, and the Dave Mathews Band fear to tread; this is truly the music of the devil.

No-way no-where

Did this on Logic. Another robotic one, but with a little dub added. En-joy!
