Thing-a-day is a yearly creative sprint where, every year in February, participants commit to creating one new thing a day and post it on a collective blog. 2010 was thing-a-day's fourth edition and the first to run on Posterous. We're gearing up for 2011 so come back mid-January for more updates!

Knitted Red Cotton Necklace
I'm knitting a plain red necklace in cotton yarn, it's making my fingers hurt! I don't find cotton yarn as easy to knit with as wool, it doesn't have the same amount of 'give', especially when knitting fiddly items on DPNs. I'm using larger needles than I would normally, the cotton is quite thick, the beads are turning out to be quite substantial, good job I like a statement!

Day Seventeen- Resin Pendant Necklace
A few days ago I reposted this as my status on facebook after commenting on a friend's status that said the same thing:
I want to make you - yes, you - a gift! 'Why?' you ask? well I'll make a gift for the next person to comment on this post or send me a message. Buuut, you then have to agree to do the same for 5 other people - fear not! It can be as easy as chocolate chip cookies or a mix CD. Or a poem, a paint...ing, a scarf. It could ...be as complex as your imagination and skill allow.
It was a perfect motivator to do during Thing-a-Day! Five of my friends commented, so I have started on their gifts! The first is for my friend, Anna. A pendant necklace.
Resin and ceramic beads on gold toned wire with gold toned chain tassel hanging from a cotton cord.
Hopefully she'll love it. I just have to find my printer cord to print up some postage and get it sent her way!

TAD - Day 14 : Deerstuff’s Coloured Deams: “Violeta” - Double Strand Necklace
“Today’s thing” is a graceful double stranded necklace, made with white and violet glass pearls, accented with faceted glass beads, amethyst and different silver plated beads.
TAD - Day 10: Deerstuff's Coloured Dreams: "Lucky Love & Pansies" ;)
Well, I’ve been “busy like a bee” all day, but as I’m trying not to become too stressed, I found time (among other things) to paint (with acrylics and permanent markers) some paper hearts I made a few days ago for Valentine’s Day and to make an easy chocker style necklace (on memory wire) featuring crocheted pansies.

Day Seven - Paper Necklace
Today I was so inspired by thing-a-dayer ninadinoff's project "ring-a-day". I took a couple years of metalwork classes and love-love-love rings. It's funny because I'm not much for wearing jewelry, but I do love me a nice art ring. Anyway, seeing her projects and accompanying flickr group I ran to my book shelf and took down my 1000 Rings book, which then led me to taking down my Paper Jewelry book. The result was this sweet simple necklace made from watercolor paper punched holes, watercolors, a basic cotton string and silver findings. It wasn't a tutorial from the book, but a combination of a few different designs.

Lego necklace
I made this yesterday, but didn't have time to post.
This was a friend's birthday this weekend. Technically, it's notLego, but K'nex (When I went to the toy store, the smallest box of
Lego they had was $25! But there was a $6 box of K'nex). I tried a
version with the red ribbon first, but ended up going with the silver
chain. Which do you like better?

Deerstuff's Coloured Dreams - TAD - Day1
Inspired by a photo I took and edited a few hours ago (aka the last photo from "Today's Slide Show"), I created a necklace in the style of 1920's-1930's, to celebrate my first day on TAD2010!
With a total length of 64 cm, this necklace includes wonderful faceted nuggets of Striped Agate and "teardrops" of Red Agate, "Amethyst" Czech Crystal Fire Polish Beads and dark-grey glass pearls. It also contains round Lava Stones, "covered" with beautiful Cloissone type flower bead-caps and gold-plated metal accesories.
Hope you'll like it (and maybe we'll find together a name for it )!
