TAD Day 28 – Deerstuff’s Coloured Dreams: “My Dreamcatcher” (recycled plastic money box)

For the final day of TAD-2010 I wanted to try something different: making a kind of money-box from a plastic jar (an empty box for dog snacks).

Here's the result!

P.S. Thanks a lot, Zebru, for affording me the opportunity of being a part of this year's TAD Team! I enjoyed the experience, it was fun and full of inspiration! Congrats to all the participants!

TAD Day 27 – Deerstuff’s Coloured Dreams: “Apple Blossom” (Flower-Brooch + photo)

For today, I made another delicate fabric flower brooch...
I think springtime was always close to my heart! ;)

TAD - Day 26: Deerstuff's Coloured Dreams: " The Blue Flower" (Satin and Organza Flower Headband)

"Another kiss and she was gone;
Like post l stood in the moan's stream!
O beautiful beyond a dream,
O small blue flower all my own!

...

Alas our love that grew so fair
Has flown and faded from that hour,
O my blue flower, my blue flower!
The world is sorrow everywhere."

(Mihai Eminescu - "Blue Flower", translated by Corneliu M. Popescu)

TAD - Day 26: Carnelian and argentium earrings

Continuing somewhat of a theme, as the more observant amongst you will notice. I love the colour of these beads though - so summery! The weather's improved dramatically here, so I've been spending time on the beach, pretending to write more of my story - I've got about 2500 words done in the last couple of days, so it's not all been time wasted!

TAD - Day 25: a pearl and sterling silver bracelet

I appear to have completely forgotten to post this yesterday. Bad me. I blame the sunshine - it's nice weather here again finally!

Anyway, yesterday's Thing was a red and white freshwater pearl bracelet, wrapped in argentium sterling silver and finished with a handmade argentium toggle clasp.

Today's Thing will come later, as inspiration strikes...

TAD Day 24: Bell Peppers

Bellpeppers_tad24

Taking photos while you cook is quite fulfilling but SO time-consuming.  :)  I have had quite a few "TAD"s spurred on by this group but never got around to posting them!  I will simply try to finish out the month at this point.  Thanks for check out my photo(s).

Bell Peppers - These colorful vegetables are rich in antioxidants and vitamins: β-Carotene (Vitamin A), Lycopene, Folic Acid, Vitamin C & Vitamin B6 ; Red, orange and yellow bell peppers are just different stages of ripened/mature green bell peppers, and they have a lot more β-Carotene & lycopene than green bell peppers, as you can tell by their color.  If someone in your house doesn't like them fresh/lightly cooked in dishes - try roasting them.  Yum!

TAD Day 23 – Deerstuff’s Coloured Dreams: “Caramel-Milk” (Beaded Earrings + photos)

Since I was (once again!) in a great hurry, I made these simple, charming and joyful earrings as today's contribution for "thing-a-day".

I think that White Howlite, Fire-Crackle Agate and Rose Quartz spheres go really well together and that they don’t need to be covered too much, allowing the gemstones to sweeten someone’s day through their beauty...

TAD Day 22 – Deerstuff’s Coloured Dreams: “The Duchess” (flower-brooch & photos)

Today I've made this flower brooch using black & dark blue tulle, silk, organza and some faux pearls & seed beads for the center. I'm pretty happy with the result but I'd really love to hear your thoughts!
I think one of these days I'll make a bracelet for this brooch and maybe some earrings, too...

TAD - Day 22: Larvikite and argentium silver pendant

Today's Thing is a pendant made from a larvikite slab, wrapped in argentium silver wire.

Wikipedia tells us that "Argentium sterling silver is a modern sterling silver alloy which modifies the traditional alloy (92.5% silver + 7.5% copper) by replacing some of the copper with the metalloid germanium. As it retains the 92.5% silver content of the traditional alloy, it is still referred to as sterling silver." For jewellery makers, the important thing about argentium is that, due to the modified alloy, it tarnishes much slower than traditional sterling silver.
