27: TV doctors dressed for other jobs #14
Thing-a-day is a yearly creative sprint where, every year in February, participants commit to creating one new thing a day and post it on a collective blog. 2010 was thing-a-day's fourth edition and the first to run on Posterous. We're gearing up for 2011 so come back mid-January for more updates!
When NHS Wales standardized its nursing uniforms, among the goals were (a) preventing nurses from being mistaken for doctors or other kinds of staff, (b) making sure no one would ever want to wear these things off duty (to avoid bringing in germs from elsewhere in space and time), and (c) requiring short sleeves "to maximise forearm washing culture."
[Update: Oh no, I've made a terrible mistake: the sky-blue uniforms are for staff nurses -- clinical specialist nurses are supposed to be in royal blue. No wonder he looks kind of annoyed.]
I don't think Dr. Hicks ever got to do a whole lot on the show except to avoid other people's drama; but she was played by the always stunning & classy CCH Pounder, so I'm sure she could keep a mean bee, or anything else she wanted to.
KISS has had at least two drummers who used the same cat face, so I think that counts as a job uniform. Dr. Phil was kicked out almost immediately at the request of the makeup artist for obvious reasons.
I apologize for any bad dreams caused by this image - I had to do it.
