tad 2010-22 Running Behind

Running behind on my post and last night I went to San Francisco City Knitter's Meetup. I met some fun folks, but that scarf I was working on the day before is still not done. Thought I'd post for the record.

TAD 2010-21 scarfing up. some korean.

1. trying to finish a scarf form a sweater i unraveled that was supposed to be the love of my life's valentine's day present...worked most of the day on it and it's almost done... here's a progression:

2. i also made bibimbap at home today and wanted to throw a question out there... i chickened out and bought an already mixed vegetable pack at the korean market today that came packaged with kochujang (red pepper paste?). it was OK, but didn't have the proportions of each ingredient i wanted and would have been great to make my own... i keep reading that i have to blanch the veggies in separate pots of boiling water... has anyone ever done it in the same pot? does it screw up the flavors? if you've done it, is there a special trick, like the order in which i can put the veggies in that will let them keep their flavor? any other tips/tricks? also, is there a web resource where i can see the differences is between the large selection of kochujang paste in english? (i know, i really DO wish i could read and speak korean - it's on my list!)

Thing Twenty: Entrelac Scarf

Entrelac

One of the issues I'm having with thing-a-day is that I feel compelled to create something new from start to finish for any given day. But this has been at the expense of doing work on projects I already have in progress and really need to finish. So today I spent some time on a WIP: an entrelac scarf I'm making with gorgeous self-striping Noro yarn. Did a set of purl side squares and am calling it good for today.

Ikyoto Day #16: Day #11 Puppet Scarf Photo & Indian Inspired Dinner

I got permission from the Puppet Kitchen folks to post a photo of the puppet scarf I made from their prototype pattern.  I made it for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day on TAD #11.  When most people offer to give their partners companionship, this isn't quite what they mean!  They hope to have them out for sale for Fall 2010 since we're nearing the end of scarf buying season in NYC, though a few might find their way into Better Than Jam Handmade Co-op before then.

What I made today was all in my regular kitchen.  In the morning it was blueberry muffins, and in the evening it was an Indian-inspired dinner.  It had Lasooni Lal Masoor and Roasted Chickpeas served over quinoa.  It was definitely not authentic, but delicious nonetheless.
