Pencils

The last day of Thing-a-Day. Time to put the pencils and supplies away. (Well, not in my house where nothing ever gets put away.) Thank you to everyone who participated in the swap. And thank you to the organizers of TAD. It was a blast.

Swirls

This bead was left over from this project. And honestly, I'd be much more inclined to wear this simple pendant. Swirls just make me happy.

The Curtiss Pusher

This is finally done. This is the Curtiss Pusher, a biplane fitted with a wheeled tricycle undercarriage. It was primarily constructed of spruce. The propeller is located behind the pilot "pushing" the plane forward.

On September 13, 1911 Jimmie Ward took off from Governors Island, NY in this plane to pursue the "Hearst Prize." Hearst offered $50,000 to the first aviator to complete a transcontinental flight in less than 30 days and no later than October 11, 1911. Sadly, Jimmie Ward had to withdraw nine days into the race after his plane finally crashed following numerous mechanical issues. He only made it to Addison, NY.

Trucks and Motorcycles

For today, I had planned to embed some glow-in-the-dark stars in clear glycerin soap. Turns out the only melt and pour I currently have is honey colored and after you melt it it becomes quite opaque. The stars became invisible. So, everything went back into the microwave and I now have handsome bars of trucks and motorcycles.

Pin Wheel

It's almost spring. The narcissus are stretching out their feelers and pin wheels should be in every flower box. This one is made out of fused newspaper bags and should withstand an April shower.

Cats

There are a lot of cat breeds out there. There seem to be an awful lot of cat breeders in California. And did you know that our ragdoll was supposed to be a docile cat? I wonder if anyone has informed him of that fact yet. My daughter and I accumulated way too much cat knowledge over the weekend, but the project is done and school starts tomorrow. Yay!

School Project

Vacation is almost over and my daughter and I are scrambling to assemble her school report about cat breeds. The map shows where all the recognized cat breeds originate. No. 4 stands for the American Shorthair.

Bag Sampler

Today, I put together a sampler of different fabric variations for a bag design. Went a little crazy in the fabric store yesterday :).

Is It A Bird, Plane, or Superman

It may be a little difficult to make out, but today's thing is a Curtiss biplane about to be embroidered unto a bag. I used iron on ink on some tearaway fabric to get the image onto the canvas.

Inside of the Executive bag

I finished the executive bag and lined it with a matching shirt. The shirt pocket becomes an inner pocket for small items. My husband is padlocking his closet. :-). Thank you all so much for your nice comments.
